One day you can:
be a registered plumber and work for a plumbing contractor
be a plumbing specialist:
- Drainage
- Roof Plumbing
- Gasfitting
be a hydraulics consultant
be a business owner
Finish a Certificate III in Plumbing
A four-year, full-time apprenticeship
Result — you are a registered plumber
Finish a Certificate IV in Plumbing Operations
You can do that part-time whilst earning money and have no HECS debt
Result — you can be a plumbing contractor, working for yourself or employ others to assist you
Finish a Diploma of Hydraulic Services
You can do that part-time
Result — you are a hydraulics consultant

Years 9 and 10
Mandatory subjects:
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE)
- Geography or History
Plus two (2) electives:
Now that you have decided on a Plumbing apprenticeship you should consider the following subjects as one or more of your electives if they are taught in your school.
- Food Technology
- Work Education
- Design and Technology
- Physical Activity and Sports Studies
Years 11 and 12
Mandatory subjects:
- English
Plus electives:
